Messages From the Other Side
Do You Believe in Spirit Guides?
Do you believe in spirit guides? Some form of the Divine—God, Creator, Universe, etc.?
If so:
What purpose do they serve?
How do you know they’re present?
How do you work with them?
How do you know who you’re working with?
These are all questions I've been working through on my own healing and spiritual journey. While I can’t answer them for you, I have enough evidence to be convinced they are real, ready, and eagerly waiting for our engagement.
They can’t wait for those they support to acknowledge their presence and FINALLY ask them for a sign—for support, for guidance.
What If They’re Always With You?
For the purposes of the rest of this article, let’s assume our loved ones, higher self, and some form of the Divine are always near—sending us signs, patiently waiting for us to notice and ask for support.
What might that look like?
How would you know it was a sign versus simply a bird, a butterfly, or a random song lyric?
It’s different for everyone, but for me, there are multiple synchronicities and signs each day showing me they are ever-present:
Tarot cards that align perfectly with what I’m working through
Cardinals or blue jays outside my window at just the right time
Feathers on my path while I’m questioning something big
They’re everywhere—if you take the time to ask, and to understand how your guides are trying to communicate with you.
Reflections After the Wedding
Yesterday, I spent the day around acquaintances and people I’d just met while celebrating a dear friend’s wedding.
Since then, I’ve been reflecting—consciously and unconsciously—on how I showed up. My reactions to conversations and moments keep replaying in my mind. With those thoughts comes disappointment.
I had gone into the weekend determined to be my unapologetic self:
Confident in who I’ve become and who I’m becoming
Owning my bold look
Staying aligned with love and light
Making no room for judgment, self-doubt, or fear
It wasn’t a total disaster, but I faltered. I caught myself judging others. I felt envy toward those who seemed to not give a f*ck what others thought.
So, What Does That Have to Do With Spirit Guides?
Everything.
This morning, I drove into the small town near the cabin I’m staying at to enjoy a little coffee and exploring. I had a fabulous cold brew latte, wrote another blog post, and browsed a few shops—where I picked up a couple books, a new Oracle deck, and a pendulum.
Back at the cabin, I smudged the new deck with incense and shuffled. Two cards fell out:
🕊️ Intentional Stillness
🎯 Focus
I asked for clarity—what should I focus on?
The next card to fall out was:
😤 Allow Anger
Seriously?
So I asked again: What anger am I holding onto?
And the response?
💗 Unconditional Self-Acceptance
BOOM. Nailed it.
A Message Loud and Clear
I was angry with myself for not being “perfect.”
For not meeting the impossible expectations I set for myself.
For failing, again, to show up as the version of me I’ve worked so hard to become.
To pour salt on the wound, the lyrics of the song playing as I pulled that last card were:
🎶 “And I can’t forgive myself, oh, I can’t forgive myself.”
What are the chances that the theme of my rumination, the Oracle cards, and the song lyrics all lined up?
Coincidence or Divine Message?
You could look at it a few different ways:
The skeptic would say it’s all coincidence: what you focus on, you attract.
Others might say I created a story to match the moment—making connections where there were none.
Maybe.
But… it could also be an invitation from my guides:
To explore a part of me whispering for healing
To let my higher self guide me toward what lies beneath the disappointment
To shed another layer of unworthiness, fear, anger
What Do You Believe?
I’m not here to convince you.
But I’ll leave you with this question:
Would you rather believe
that the loved ones who’ve passed on, your higher self, and the Divine are always beside you—
supporting you, guiding you, sending signs to help you through life?
OR
That coincidences are just that—coincidences—
and they only mean something because you’ve made up a story to feel better?
I Know What I Choose.
And I hope that, just maybe, you start noticing the signs too.
